Activities have commenced in earnest at the Federal University Lokoja Parks and Conservatory (FULPAC) which occupies a total of 10 hectares of land at the Permanent Site, Felele. This was disclosed during the week by the Director of Research & Innovation, Professor M.N. Suleiman, who doubles as the Board Chairman of FULPAC.

Announcing the positive development to the University Community, the Professor of Plant Pathology/Mycology from the Department of Botany, who shared some beautiful pictures of the ongoing identification and tagging of plants by members of the Technical Sub-committee, averred that the commencement of the parks and conservatory in FUL was made possible through the unparalleled support of the visionary Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi in line with his developmental agenda for the University, describing the project as another milestone in the history of the twelve-year-old university.

"Hurray! Another milestone in the history of FUL. With the support of our amiable and dynamic Vice-Chancellor, I am glad to announce the formal commencement of activities at FUL Parks and Conservatory, Felele Campus. The Technical sub-committee on Tagging and Identification of Plants of the ten (10) hectares of FULPAC land, together with hunters commenced today. Congratulations to FUL community," Professor Suleiman exclaimed with excitement. 

FULPAC, when fully completed and put into operation, would serve as a recreational center/garden and open to both the general public and members of the University Community for their maximum relaxation and comfort, particularly during festive periods as envisioned by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi under his purposeful leadership.

It is interesting to note that the relaxation hub would contain a children's section with playing facilities, a picnic section for retreats and hangouts, an animal section where different types of animals would be housed and displayed, shops, and offices, among other exciting features and services that would make the center very attractive, comfortable, and pleasurable for visitors and their families to enjoy every bit of their stay in a nature-friendly environment. Additionally, the center would serve educational purposes such as research and excursions while generating revenue for the University.

According to FULPAC Chairman, the ongoing identification and plant tagging, which began on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, is expected to last for two (2) weeks.  See more pictures here
