A student of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Victor Ikechukwu Orakpo, has been signed up for a professional football contract by the Olympique Gymnaste Club de Nice Football Club of France playing in the Ligue 1. The sign-up was announced by the Football Club on its verified Facebook page some hours ago. 

Olympique Gymnaste Club de Nice, commonly referred to as OGC Nice or simply Nice, is a French professional football club based in Nice, France. The club was founded in 1904 and currently plays in Ligue 1, the top tier of French football. Nice plays its home matches at the Allianz Riviera.

"Victor Orakpo is a new Eagle. The young striker (18 years old) joins the Gym. Welcome, Victor!" the Football Club announced on its official Facebook handle.

Recall that Victor, one of FUL's contingents at the 2022 Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL), won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award at the Bayern Munich Football Championship in Germany in October 2022.

Impressed by his exceptional performance at the HIFL, the various international recognitions, and for doing the University proud, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi hosted the young award-winning striker in his office in November 2022.
