The entire Federal University Lokoja community joins numerous well-wishers, scholars, colleagues, friends, associates and admirers across Nigeria and beyond in celebrating a distinguished academic, transformational administrator, accomplished linguist and visionary leader, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, MNAL, FESAN, FLAN, as he attains the remarkable milestone of his 60th birthday on June 7, 2026.

Sixty years in the journey of life is a testament to divine grace, purpose, resilience and impactful service. For Professor Ibileye, the occasion represents not merely the passage of time but the celebration of a life devoted to scholarship, mentorship, leadership and the advancement of higher education.

A renowned Professor of English and Applied Linguistics, Professor Ibileye has distinguished himself through decades of exceptional contributions to teaching, research, academic administration and national development. His intellectual footprints are deeply etched across Nigeria's educational landscape, where he has inspired generations of scholars and students through his brilliance, humility, discipline and unwavering commitment to excellence.

As the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Ibileye has brought to bear a rare blend of strategic vision, administrative competence and human-centred leadership. Under his stewardship, the University has witnessed remarkable growth in academic development, research collaboration, infrastructure expansion, institutional visibility, staff welfare, students' engagement and global partnerships.
