...As Prof. Gbenga Ibileye receives RES delegation, says 'partnership with FUL dates back to 2021'
The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Ibileye, on Tuesday received a high-profile courtesy visit from Research Enterprise System (RES), a leading academic consultancy organisation, as the newly appointed university chief charts ambitious agenda for institutional transformation.
The delegation, led by Executive Director Professor Fatai Aremu and accompanied by Dr. Michael Olaogun and Pharm. Silvia Onoja arrived with a concrete proposal: a fully funded training programme on Emotional Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence integration, offered entirely at no cost to the university.
The visit, held at the Vice Chancellor's office, signals a renewed and elevated phase in a partnership that has quietly shaped postgraduate academic outcomes at Federal University Lokoja since 2021.
For Professor Ibileye, the occasion carried personal resonance. It was during his earlier tenure as Provost of the Post Graduate College that he first witnessed the depth of Research Enterprise Systems' commitment to the institution, a commitment, he recalled, that was offered freely and without negotiation over financial terms.
"That is the hallmark of human dignity and sacrifice. You were the one who started teaching on those programmes even without discussing payment or compensation." - Prof. Ibileye said

Professor Aremu outlined that the training programme was specifically designed in response to evolving challenges observed in postgraduate supervision, where the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence tools has created a skills gap among staff who interact with graduate students.
He described Emotional Intelligence as a foundational competency that enables educators and administrators alike to engage more effectively, not only with students but with technology-driven academic environments.
The training is open to both academic and non-academic staff, a detail the Executive Director emphasised as deliberate.
Research Enterprise Systems believes that the successful integration of AI in a university setting requires a whole-institution response, one that does not limit capacity building to faculty alone but extends the same opportunities to administrative and support staff who are equally central to the student experience.
Crucially, the entire programme is fully funded by Research Enterprise Systems, with no financial obligation placed on the university.
Professor Aremu described it as a gift in honour of Professor Ibileye's assumption of office and as a deliberate statement that a new era of partnership and excellence had begun at Federal University Lokoja.
Meanwhile, Professor Ibileye did not merely receive the proposal with pleasantries. He placed it within the broader context of a proven and results-driven relationship.
Ibileye noted that every postgraduate candidate supported through the Research Enterprise Systems partnership had sailed through their dissertation defence without incident, a record of academic quality he described as both remarkable and significant.
The Vice Chancellor expressed that the university's gratitude extended beyond words, noting that the partnership had evolved from individual academic contributions into a broader institutional alliance.
He assured the delegation that the collaboration would grow in leaps and bounds and that both parties stood to gain maximum rewards from continued joint endeavours.
The university don specifically called on Research Enterprise Systems, given their established network within professional and corporate circles, to assist in mobilising participants and shaping the conversation. See more pictures here
