The Okun Welfare Association of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Kogi Area Office, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Gbenga Ibileye, congratulating him on his assumption of office as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution. The delegation was led by Engr. Bode Eniola Komolafe, Chairman of the Association and Area Manager, NIWA Kogi Area Office.

Speaking during the visit, Engr. Komolafe warmly felicitated Prof. Ibileye on his well-deserved elevation to the highest academic office of the Federal University Lokoja, describing his appointment as a source of pride not only to the institution but also to the entire Okun community.

He expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor's capacity to steer the university to greater heights and assured him of the Association's unwavering solidarity. Engr. Komolafe further pledged the full partnership of NIWA Kogi Area Office, stating that as sister federal institutions operating within the same environment, both establishments share a common responsibility to complement each other's mandates for the overall development of the state and its people.

Receiving the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibileye, expressed delight at the visit and charged both institutions to embrace the spirit of unity, drawing from a well-known Yoruba proverb. He noted that it is the lack of collective movement among snakes that leads to their individual defeat — for if the cobra leads, closely followed by the python with the mamba behind, no human would dare stand in their way. "Let this message of unity go into the NIWA community — and as federal institutions, let us partner together," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor further called for sustained communication between both institutions, urging that the visit mark the beginning of a productive relationship. "Let us keep the channel of communication open as we explore more opportunities and areas of collaboration," he added.

Other principal officers of the university present during the visit were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. S.D. Musa; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Jacqueline Badaki; Registrar, Dr. Rebecca Okojie; Bursar, Mr. John Sule Shilo; and the University Librarian, Prof. Sara Yani.
