The Institute of Biotechnology, Federal University Lokoja (FULIB) is a premier academic and research directorate dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation, and capacity development in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology. Equipped with world-class laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities, the Institute provides an enabling environment for specialized training, cutting-edge research, and transformative biotechnology solutions.

The proposal for the establishment of the Institute of Biotechnology, Federal University Lokoja, presented by Professor Emmanuel Olufemi Ekundayo, the Head of Department of Biotechnology, was approved by the Senate of the Federal University Lokoja, at the 98^th Meeting of the Senate held on the 3^rd December 2025, under the leadership of the visionary Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwumi.

Objectives of the Institute

1. To serve as a Centre of Excellence for biotechnology research, innovation, and advanced training.
2. To provide a multidisciplinary platform for collaborative research across scientific and engineering disciplines.
3. To maintain and operate core research and molecular diagnostic facilities for internal and external users.
4. To promote strategic linkages with local and international organizations involved in biotechnology research and development.
5. To accelerate the translation of biotechnology innovations into impactful products, services, and solutions.
