No fewer than 20 senior academic staff of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) have been promoted to the rank of Professor and Reader, comprising eight (8) full Professors and 12 Readers or Associate Professors in the recent promotion exercise conducted by the University.

Their promotions were approved by the Federal Ministry of Education on behalf of the Governing Council following the positive reports from the external assessment of their publications, including recommendations made by the Appointments and Promotions Committee (A&PC) headed by the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate.

The new promotion also included other categories of academic staff, academic technologists as well as senior and junior non-teaching members of staff which cut across different cadres, departments, directorates, divisions, and units within the University and have been served their letters.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has congratulated all the newly promoted staff in the just concluded exercise, describing their new ranks as well deserved. He particularly felicitated those elevated to the highly coveted professorial rank, acknowledging their past years of selflessness, resilience, and unwavering commitment to research and community service, while growing consistently through the ranks to reach the zenith of their academic career. He enjoined them not to rest on their oars but to redouble their commitment to advancing the frontiers of knowledge and giving back to society.

Similarly, while handing over the promotion letters, the Registrar, Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, congratulated the new Professors and Readers and also attributed their new status to their years of dedication, hard work, and contributions to nation-building. She equally urged them to sustain the efforts, adding that the entire academic community and the nation expect more from them.
