The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) and Director of Academic Planning (DAP), Professor Makanjuola Olayemisi Osagbemi has expressed joy over the full accreditation status earned by the six (6) Academic Programmes of the Faculty of Science in Federal University Lokoja. This was made known in his congratulatory message to members of the Faculty of Science made available on social media on Thursday, April 26, 2018. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor who is a Professor of Geography said that the achievement is a reflection of the teamwork, dedication, sacrifice and cooperation among the Faculty members, urging that such enviable attributes should be sustained for the University to record more successes in the future. He said,
“The Management of Federal University Lokoja wishes to use this platform to congratulate Faculty of Science for the full accreditation status earned by the six Academic Programmes of the Faculty presented for NUC Re-Accreditation in March, 2018. The Re-Accreditation Exercise result is a reflection of the teamwork, dedication, sacrifice and cooperation that played out among faculty members throughout the long period of preparations for the Exercise. These enviable attributes rekindle our hope in the future that we can collectively achieve anything we set our minds on. Congratulations, Faculty of Science and by extension the University Community”.
The six (6) Academic Programmes in the Faculty of Science that earned the full accreditation status conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) are: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematical Sciences and Physics.
Similarly, it would be recalled that in 2015, all the current five (5) Academic Programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science – Economics, English and Literary Studies, Geography, History and International Studies, and Political Science, also earned their full accreditation status following the first Accreditation Exercise conducted in the University by the National Universities Commission.
Professor Osagbemi with his team, the University Management and the entire University Community had worked tirelessly round the clock to ensure that the First Accreditation and Re-Accreditation Exercises were successful.
