A
Certificate of Credence as the Best Performing Head of Higher Institution in Kogi
State has been conferred on the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja,
Professor Angela Freeman Miri.
The
Award was conferred on her by the National Association of Kogi State Youths,
which comprises of 37 youth groups across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi
State.
Speaking
at the event, the National President of the Association, Comrade Sule Destiny
said that the Award followed the report of its Assessment Committee which was set
up to assess the performance of various Heads of Higher Institutions in the
State, and also following the resolution of their members at the recent
Congress held in Lokoja where Professor Angela Freeman Miri was nominated for
this year’s Award.
Comrade
Destiny pointed out that the Committee’s Report showed clearly the ability of
the Vice-Chancellor to overcome obstacles, stressing that her achievements in
the face of challenges necessitated the Award.
He
commended the Vice-Chancellor and her Management Team for their zeal and unwavering
commitment to the mandate and progress of the University, enjoining them to
sustain such efforts aimed at taking the Institution to higher heights.
Responding,
the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Angela Freeman Miri dedicated the Award to the University
Management, noting that the successes recorded so far were as a result of their
cooperation and dedication to duty. Professor Miri described the honour done
her as a morale booster, saying that she would not rest on her oars until more
successes were attained for the progress of the Institution.
The
Vice-Chancellor, who commended members of the Association for the Award,
assured them that the Management of the University would continue to work
tirelessly toward ensuring a conducive and standard learning environment for
