Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has again demonstrated a unique and exemplary leadership quality as the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL). The erudite Professor of History was seen on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 (today) having a lecture session with the 300 Level students of the Department of History and International Studies of the University.

Despite his busy schedules, the Vice-Chancellor who is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (FNAL), was engaged in the course "HIS 303 - Nigeria from 1900-1960" in which he lectured the students with great passion and enthusiasm.

The students, though surprised but excited, listened with rapt attention as they enjoyed the rare privilege of being taught by their Vice-Chancellor whose humility, sense of responsibility, and love for what he knows how to do best, were glaringly displayed before their very eyes.

While he held sway as the President of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN) - the first Academic Society in Nigeria, Professor Akinwumi, through painstaking efforts and direct meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan, restored history as a subject to be taught at Secondary Schools and Universities which was hitherto removed from the curriculum.

The renowned historian is also a Fellow of the Historical Society of Nigeria (FHSN). Professor Akinwumi is highly respected for his great sense of humility in leadership - the unsung skill of great leaders. See more pictures here
